Call for Student Volunteers

 

International Development Observer (IDO)  is an independent and non-profit initiative based in China led by a consortium of seasoned international development practitioners and researchers. IDO's work focuses on three core areas: multilateral governance, bilateral development policies, and global challenges. Since its establishment in 2020, IDO has published over 90 original articles, reaching more than 400,000 readers from nearly 150 countries, including individuals from government, think tanks, United Nations agencies, foundations, and NGOs.

IDO is currently seeking student volunteers to assist in reviewing the English translations of selected articles that are currently machine-translated.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborating closely with the IDO team, volunteers will be tasked with:

  • Reviewing the English translations of selected articles originally published in Chinese.
  • Providing insights to enhance the English content on the IDO website.

 

WHAT YOU GAIN

By volunteering with IDO, you can:

  • Have your name credited as editor of the English version of the article. Eg. Say 'English version of this article was edited by …'.
  • Be given priority consideration to publish articles related to IDO's focus areas on the IDO website.

Additionally, we are prepared to provide a recommendation letter upon request.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

We are seeking students currently studying or with relevant experience in the field of international development, possessing the following qualities:

  • Fluency in English.
  • Fluency in Chinese is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong academic track record.
  • A proactive attitude and a passion for creating impact.
